Kids love the idea of making breakfast for Mom on Mother’s Day! They sometimes need a little guidance from Mom or Dad though. These recipes and tips are perfect and will make everyone happy!

Easy Omelet in a Bag

*Hint: prepare the bag the night before so that it can be ready for Mom bright and early!

Ingredients:

  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons crumbled cooked bacon
  • 2 tablespoons shredded Cheddar cheese (buy pre-shredding to make it even easier!)
  • 2 teaspoons diced onion
  • 1 teaspoon diced bell pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sliced mushroom
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 pinch salt

Directions:

  • Put all ingredients in a resealable sandwich bag; seal. Shake vigorously until thoroughly mixed. Squeeze out any excess air and reseal.
  • Bring a pot of water to a boil. Place bag in the boiling water; cook until egg is completely cooked, about 13 minutes. Remove bag using tongs or a large strainer (be careful!). Carefully open bag and roll omelet onto a plate.

Fruit Bowl:

Have children slice up strawberries and melon the night before Mother’s Day. They can mix them with blueberries, grapes, and any other of Mom’s favorite fruit. Store in a plastic container or zip lock. In the morning, they can put them into a bowl and add a dollop of whipped cream. Yum!

Baked Pancakes:

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Put butter in a 9-inch pie pan. Place pan in the preheating oven until butter is melted, about 5 minutes.
  • Whisk flour, milk, eggs, white sugar, and salt together in a bowl; pour mixture into the hot butter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until pancake is brown on the edges and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 20 minutes. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar, if desired.
  • Top with sliced peaches, berries, or syrup.

Items to buy that will help make breakfast even easier:

  • Fully cooked bacon
  • Ready to bake cinnamon rolls
  • Packaged hash browns
  • Pre-sliced fruit or a can of mixed fruit
  • Whipped cream
  • Juice

Enjoy a wonderful Mother's Day!
